Booking a taxi from Gare Montparnasse

Enter “Gare Montparnasse, Paris” as your starting point, then add your train number and expected arrival. A hotel in Montparnasse, an address on Boulevard du Montparnasse and the railway station are different pickup locations. If you are leaving a hotel for a train, use the hotel’s full address as the starting point and the station as the destination.

Choose a pickup time that allows you to leave the platform and gather your belongings. The train’s scheduled arrival is not the moment you will be standing beside the car. Check the confirmation for a specific meeting point rather than relying on the station name alone.

Hall 1, Hall 2 and the Mouchotte exit

SNCF identifies Hall 1 on level 2 and Hall 2 on level 3. Its station information mentions the Taxis corridor near platform 24 and the Mouchotte exit near platform 1. These are useful wayfinding landmarks, not an automatic meeting point for every booking.

For a taxi without a reservation, follow station taxi signs. For a booked pickup, read the instructions before choosing an exit. If you need to make contact, give the hall name or a recognisable landmark. Let your contact know before walking to another side of the station.

Montparnasse to Gare du Nord: allow for the whole connection

Changing stations involves leaving your first train, walking to the car, travelling across Paris and finding your next platform. Add any advance check-in or security requirements specified by your next train operator. A road journey estimate alone is not enough to plan a connection.

The same applies to Gare de Lyon, Saint-Lazare and Gare de l’Est. Enter the exact station name. Paris Gare de Lyon is a station in Paris, not the city of Lyon. A direct journey can make luggage easier to manage, but it cannot guarantee a tight connection.

Orly, CDG, Paris hotels and Disneyland

For a transfer to Orly or Charles-de-Gaulle, specify the departure terminal and the time you need to be at the airport, following your airline’s guidance. In the other direction, give your flight number and arrival terminal and allow for disembarkation and baggage collection.

For hotels, provide the full property name and street address. Our Paris taxi guide covers other journeys around the city. Continuing to the parks or a Disney hotel? See the Disneyland Paris taxi guide, then choose the exact hotel or drop-off location.

If your train is delayed

Send the revised arrival time as soon as you know it, using the contact details or booking management options in your confirmation. Include your request reference. Supplying a train number does not by itself confirm automatic waiting or a change to the pickup time.

Keep the phone used for the request available. Once at the station, describe where you are more precisely than “outside”. If the delay threatens an onward train or flight, check your options with that operator too: the car journey cannot remove boarding requirements or traffic delays.

Luggage, children and mobility needs

Count every passenger, including children, and list large suitcases, cabin bags and bulky items. Say whether a pushchair folds. If travelling as a group, agree where to gather before leaving the station so that everyone heads to the same exit.

Request a child seat, booster or a vehicle suitable for a mobility need in advance and wait for confirmation. Describe the practical requirement and equipment dimensions where relevant. Station assistance and the car journey need separate coordination, including the handover from the platform to your meeting point.

Taxi fares: compare like for like

Compare journeys with the same addresses, time, passengers and luggage. Ask how a reservation, waiting after a delayed train and any relevant extras are handled. A fare for one station transfer is not a confirmed price for another route.

Paris taxi tariffs and airport fixed fares apply to defined journeys. Check the current official information and the conditions for your own trip. There is no single Montparnasse-to-Paris price covering every address and circumstance.

Taxi, metro or walking?

Montparnasse-Bienvenüe serves metro lines 4, 6, 12 and 13; SNCF lists their access on level -1. Check the full route, interchanges and service updates for your travel date. Walking through the station is part of the journey whichever option you choose.

Planning the return to Montparnasse

When leaving a hotel or apartment, give the entrance where you will wait, a reachable phone number and the train you need to catch. Work backwards from your train operator’s required arrival time, allowing for traffic and the walk inside the station.

Treat your arrival and return as separate trips and check each confirmation. If you change hotels during your stay, use the actual departure address rather than repeating the address from your first journey.

Five details to prepare

  1. Gare Montparnasse, Paris, your train and hall if known.
  2. Full destination address, exact station or airport terminal.
  3. A pickup time allowing for leaving the train and your connection.
  4. All passengers, bags, pushchair and equipment to confirm.
  5. A reachable phone, confirmation and agreed meeting point.

FAQ · Gare Montparnasse

Questions about Montparnasse taxis

Practical answers about pickup, bookings, connections and luggage.

Where can I get a taxi at Gare Montparnasse?

Follow the taxi signs if you have no reservation. SNCF mentions the Taxis corridor near platform 24 in Hall 1. For a booking, use the meeting point in your confirmation, which may differ from that landmark.

Which exit should I use for a booked pickup?

Use the exit stated in your pickup instructions. The Mouchotte exit near platform 1 and the Taxis corridor near platform 24 are separate landmarks. Clarify the meeting point before crossing the station if the instructions are unclear.

Can I book before my train arrives?

You can prepare a request with your train number, expected arrival, passengers and luggage. Allow time to leave the platform and check the confirmation. Pickup depends on availability and the confirmed arrangements.

What if my train is late?

Send the updated time through the contact or management link provided. Confirm the revised meeting arrangements and any waiting conditions. Giving a train number does not automatically reschedule the pickup.

How much is a taxi from Montparnasse to Gare du Nord?

Check the applicable fare conditions for your exact journey and time, including reservation and possible waiting. An estimate for another route is not a confirmed fare for this transfer.

Can a taxi guarantee a short connection to Gare de Lyon?

You can request a direct trip to Paris Gare de Lyon, but the road journey cannot guarantee the connection. Include walking in both stations and any advance boarding requirement for your next train.

What details are needed for Orly or CDG?

Give the exact airport, departure terminal, flight and required airport arrival time. For an airport pickup, provide the arrival terminal and allow time to leave the aircraft and collect your bags.

Can I bring a pushchair or request a child seat?

List the children, all luggage and whether the pushchair folds. Request the seat or booster you need and wait for confirmation. Passenger seating and luggage space both need to suit your group.

Which metro lines serve Montparnasse?

Montparnasse-Bienvenüe serves lines 4, 6, 12 and 13, with access listed by SNCF on level -1. Check the full route and disruptions before choosing the metro with luggage.

Does my arrival booking include the return to the station?

Prepare a separate return request with the correct departure address and train details. Check its confirmation and allow time before boarding. Your hotel pickup point will differ from your arrival meeting point.
